It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Steven Angel and the Rhythm and Reading program.  The techniques Steven shared with our school district were innovative and creative yet practical and attainable for the classroom teacher.  The program is based in an n impressive confluence of cutting edge theoretical underpinnings spanning several disciplines.

I work with students with learning disabilities.  One hallmark of these students is a tendency to read words as individual units rather than connected parts of a complete sentence.  The rhythm and tempo techniques cut to the heart of the matter and quickly helped these students improve their reading fluency.  The smoother flow of their reading was very recognizable.  Further, pacing of the reading is highly “tunable” through the intimate connection that the teacher and student achieve using the techniques.

Enhancing the basic utility of the program was the thoughtful and thorough training and support provided by Steven.  His passion and drive were evident as he worked to make the teachers comfortable and proficient with the teaching tools he was providing to us.

In a field where it its difficult to find a truly new idea, Steven has crafted a unique marriage of primal rhythms and cutting edge reading pedagogy.  The program is fun, energetic, focused, and effective.  I enjoyed participating in the trainings and supervised practice with students.  I look forward to incorporating the techniques into my repertoire.
