Reading & Rhythm Program

Reading & Rhythm

PreK thru 12th grade reading levels: groups, one-on-one, schools, juvenile halls, detention camps, family centers, libraries and parks.

The Reading & Rhythm Program is a powerful system that addresses the needs of struggling readers, which includes anxiety and negative internal thinking. It is the universal appeal of rhythm that makes Reading & Rhythm stand out among other reading strategies. The program provides methods that improve fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, phonics, word recognition and phonemic awareness. We use a simple but powerful assertive rhythm that diffuses the Doubtful Internal Voice® and decreases anxiety, while creating a neural pathway in the brain for increased focus and concentration. We use tempo to speed up the neural networks in the brain.

The program also instills 7 rules which help break bad reading habits. All participants are pre and post-tested.

  • Increases reading fluency and accuracy through the use of rhythm
  • Employs specific educational techniques to help student tackle complex words, vocabulary and improve spelling
  • Our Nonlinear Comprehension™ strategy allows the reader to think like the writer
  • Uses rhythm and tempo to read faster and to increase self-esteem
  • Uses rhythm to motivate readers

Program Specifics:

Group Sessions: DFYL provides Reading & Rhythm during the school day and as an after-school program. Recommend the program to students who are struggling with their reading!

A DFYL facilitator works with groups of up to 7 students 60 minutes per class, twice a week for 6 weeks. We pre & post-tests each student.

DFYL offers private sessions, in person or via Zoom and Skype.

The Reading & Rhythm program’s Zoom/ Skype sessions and online beats recording are perfect for students working from home.  The facilitator will work with your child at your most convenient time.

We have bilingual facilitators to teach 2nd language learners in groups or one on one. We teach the natural rhythm of words, while magnifying the rhythm of the English language, making it easier to learn English.

Students are pre and post tested for letter naming, sound recognition, fluency, accuracy, comprehension and given an assessment questionnaire to evaluate the impact of the program.

“My son participated in a six- weeks, twelve sessions, individual class in the Reading and Rhythm Program with Mr. Angel.  Over the course of the on- hour classes provided by Mr. Angel, there was a significant improvement shown in my son’s reading including fluency and comprehension. In returning to class this school year, one of his teachers, without knowing he had engaged in this program over the summer, shared with us, that she had observed a significant improvement in his reading ability.”

– Mrs. Moreno

Drumming for Your Life facilitators and K-12 teachers have worked with over 7,500 students and pre and post tested over 5,000 students.
